Mikroskosmos Literary Journal (print) only accepts submissions from Wichita State University students, faculty, and alumni. All other submissions should be submitted through Mojo (online).
We want your art! Art that pushes the envelope and dives into the avant-garde or art that speaks to/for you. We encourage you to submit works that are beyond traditional mediums. If you can document it, go for it! Show us forms that are strange and daring. We are not currently able to support video or audio submissions forMikrokosmos. One of our accepted artists will be asked if their work can be used for the cover of Issue 70, so be bold and share what you want the world to see!

We want to see art that is driven and art that drives. Show us fear, love, loss, redemption, and passion in brush brushstrokes and contours. Give us a fleeing moment captured or truth in a landscape. We are accepting paintings, drawings, photography, and all mediums which can be rendered visually. Unfortunately, we can't support audio or video for our print journal, but we welcome all visual art. Send up to 5 pieces for us to review.
In the appropriate field of the submission manager please include your contact information: your name and email. A brief bio is welcomed, but optional. Do not withdraw the entire submission if one or more of your pieces are still available. If you have a piece accepted or published elsewhere, please add a note to your submission to let us know which must be withdrawn from consideration.
The Mikrokosmos team is excited to announce our 2025-2026 Mikrokosmos Fiction and Poetry Contest. We are looking for fiction and poetry from alumni, students, teachers, and staff of Wichita State University. Our top three submissions from both genres will be printed in Mikrokosmos Volume 72 and receive prize money based on their placement by our guest judges. It costs nothing to submit, but we will ask that you tell us how you are affiliated with Wichita State in your bio. Guidelines are listed below, as well as prize money and brief bios of our two judges, Michael Prior (poetry) and Brian Druckenmiller (fiction). General submissions may be resubmitted as contest submissions, but please identify if your submission you've submitted it previously during this cycle (Fall 2025). The following prizes will be awarded to both fiction and poetry independently:
First Place Prize: $200
